Our Rates & Charges
At Sussex Aircooled, every vehicle is worked on by experienced classic VW and Porsche specialists — not general mechanics.
Our workshop labour rate is:
£70 + VAT per hour
Minimum charge: 1 hour.
Our pricing reflects the specialist knowledge, tooling and experience required to work correctly on classic air-cooled vehicles — from early Splitscreens to later Bay Windows, Beetles and air-cooled Porsche models.
We focus on doing the job properly, not quickly.
Out of Hours & Call-Out Work
Out-of-hours and emergency call-out work is charged at:
£85 + VAT per hour
Minimum charge: 1 hour.

We are always happy to discuss your vehicle and provide guidance before work begins.
Clear communication and no surprises are important to us.
Payment Methods:
We accept:
Credit & debit cards (no fee, though some card types may be refused)
BACS payments (preferred – contact us for details)
Cash payments (see below)
All invoices must be settled with cleared funds before any vehicle or parts leave our premises.
Until payment is complete, all parts remain the property of SK Classic Ltd T/A Sussex Aircooled.
💳 Cash Payments & Why There’s a Fee
While we do accept cash, processing cash payments comes with real costs:
Travelling to the bank (e.g., 30 minutes each way)
Staff time for depositing and reconciling funds
Bank transaction fees
Example: A cash payment of £1,000:
Bank charges: £12
Staff time: £105 (@ £70/hr + VAT)
Total cost: £140.40
This is why we encourage card or BACS payments — it avoids extra fees and keeps your money working on your vehicle.
